"A generation of little girls will want to be her. And a generation of little boys will want them to be her too." - Stephen Moffatt.
As a feminist, I would like to say that I want to set him on fucking fire right about now. Just fucking stop stop stop stop stop. Jesus FUCKING COCK! I've wanted to set him on fire for a bit now. This just gives me a little more incentive to buy the gasoline. I am loathe to point this out... but he has had several love interests. One must assume that, since he had a granddaughter, he had at least one child, which means at least some kind of non-platonic fling took place back on Gallifrey. Thought it wasn't explicit, I do feel some sort of romantic relationship with Romana was going on with Four. Eight was ten types of touchy-feely with Grace, and later admitted that he was in love with Charley Pollard before they parted ways. Nine/Ten WERE in love with Rose Tyler, so...
...I hope we can still be friends.
Seriously, though, I think the romantic element of the show has gotten out of hand. I liked that he rejected Martha, and I liked that Donna did not fall head over heels for him. The Rose Tyler thing was a beautiful fairytale, but I'm glad it's over. Well, yes, the whole Susan thing does give away a bit about the fellow before the whole Tardis-stealin' adventure-havin' Doctor. I can give a pass to the other Time Lords. Sure, dude had a family life, ok, that's cool. And Romana was a Time Lord as well plus they were kinda school chums (and I admit it was cute watching Tom Baker and Lalla Ward flirt onscreen.)
But I draw the line, the LINE, DAMMIT at this whole "Earth Girls are Easy" schtick they've been fooling around with. Because it means that every female companion the Doctor has had since Eight has become romantically involved with him in one capacity or another with the exception of Donna, but even she had to suffer the "Oh, we're not married, no" gag a few too many times.
And they've all been human. The fellow's from Gallifrey, fer crying out loud. HE GOTS MORE HEARTS THAN THEM! WE HEARD EM! Sure, he's pining over the fact that he's (sometimes/maybe/often/kinda) the Last of his Kind, but that Rebound Mushy Stuff has to subside sometime and he's had two regenerations to polish off the emo juice.
This new companion all but screams "I'm here for the hot couple factor and the romantic tension!" especially when paired with Young Cutie Doctor. But she looks like a better fit for Torchwood, honestly.
I dunno. Maybe I should just stick to my Tom Baker and Sylvester McCoy. With filming due to begin this summer, Gillan beat off dozens of hopefuls to land one of television's most coveted roles.
LOL forever. So all the rumors about the BBC are true. But we have to have women on this here television show, and what other role would a woman play if not the hero's GIRLFRIEND?
...
rage. Why, the Damsel in Distress, of course!
DOCTOR! HELP!! When I saw the new Doctor I thought they were tapping into a sort of Jonas Brothers vibe with their choice, so maybe he'll wear a purity ring and nothing will happen. "This white foam! It's the Cybermen's new weakness! C'mon, help me hook a hose up to this gigantic vat! Allons-y!" Doctor/Tardis would be my OTP, except that I keep getting swayed in the direction of Doctor/Angst. (Which is mostly Five's fault, really.) I'm sorry to laugh at your pain, but I can't help it.
You rock. That is all.
The only thing is, I REALLY want to see the plot where the hot young Doctor and his companion fall in love with each other, and then he regenerates into someone old and crusty and doesn't see why anything should change. ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/45280719/842489) | From: | zyrya |
