1. Green Grass/High Tides was solo five-starred at Hard on the very first try. I am not above admitting that it was all due to the rock finish bonus because five stars is five stars no matter how you earn them SO SUK IT OUTLAWS. (Meanwhile, Enter Sandman remains three-starred and I ain't goin back any time soon.)

2. And on another planet, a giant pot of vichyssoise has been overturned in the kitchen. Our heroes are regrouping in some conveniently-placed utility corridors, and Bunny is stuck in an air duct after chasing a headcrab (it got away.) The robots are approaching. More bulletins as events warrant.

I'm actually impressed you finished off a star on the big rock ending. I never manage to do that.

Then again, I'm on drums, are you playing guitar? I think it's harder to get points on the big rock ending if you're soloing drums.

I finished GG/HT with just a sliver remaining for the fifth star, so any amount of bonus points would've put me over. But you can bet I was sure worried about nailing the finish.

The thing about drums and the big rock ending (and the fills) is that you're compelled to go all Animal on the drums during the freestyle section. This'll throw off your rhythm and sometimes keep you from nailing Overdrive. I've found it sometimes easier to continue on the beat I was on for the fill (just sounds weirder when the toms replace the other instruments) and then hit the crash at the end. Keeps me on the beat going into and coming out of the fill. You can't exactly do that for the finish, but I try really hard to let up as soon as I see the end of the section approaching, just to make sure I can regain some kind of rhythm.

The Big Rock Ending is taken into account when setting the point thresholds for the stars, so getting your fifth star via the bonus is totally legit.

I don't think I had any doubt that it was legit. I mean, I don't feel like I got away with anything, but instead felt like I really pulled something amazing off given the fact that I never finished any of the GH setlists in Hard. But on the other hand it wasn't like that fifth star was earned early on...

I'm still feelin proud about getting five stars on that and (tonight) Run To The Hills on my first try. God that one is fun.
