Congratulations major bigtime to my housemate Dave, aka gee_tar, who has just won the fourth season of Beauty and the Geek with his partner Jasmine. Dude, you rock. You rockin' rock with rocks of rocks. I am proud to say I share a house with the winner of a reality television show. That's very awesome, and once I get some sleep I may be able to explain further to Constant Readers what it's been like these past few months with a celebrity in our midst.
What, he's your roommate?? I Had No Idea.

WoW! Congrats to Dave and Jasmine!
1. That's really cool.
2. What's The CW?
the CW is a TV network, the result of a shotgun marriage between two earlier failing networks, United Paramount Network and 'The WB' (Warner Bros). Despite its name, the CW has nothing to do with country and western music. I guess it just sounded better than 'the WC'.

How did I not know that he is your housemate? Regardless, mad props.

Yeah, I'd no idea he was your housemate either.
He's a LARPer, too. How do I not know him personally??

As I understand it, he's a fantasy live-combat LARPer, which isn't exactly your scene.

Congratulations to him!
I should get him together with my cousin Alex
. Do reality-TV folk have a secret club they can all hang out in? "Man, you should have seen what they edited out!".

Maybe you aren't who I think you are. But it should be noted that Dave went to Wesleyan and was president of Alpha Delt. :)
I still remember going over to Dave's house for the first time after he came back and seeing the mailbox. That was pretty funny. The world is tooooooo small.
Did you ever watch an episode with him during the season, Nathan? He was always commenting on the editing, and how it differed or coincided with reality.
Unless there's more than one male Beauty and the Geek contestant around Somerville, I'm pretty sure I sat down at this guy's table at Mike's and watched part of a Sox game with him a few months back.
There's three, actually.
Somerville was represented quite well in the show.
Sam was just watching a Beauty and the Geek repeat marathon. I noticed the references to Davis Square and wondered if I'd seen these people around. I didn't know Dave was your housemate!
Heh. My former roommate lost in the first season.
What I find comical is that I know one of the guys who created the show. The world is small.
So was he out of the house during filming? Also, what do you win on that show, anyway? Makeovers? Bragging rights?
$250,000 between taxes split between the two. Plus bragging rights and, yes, he's kept the makeover look he got mid-season.

He didn't move in until after the filming was over. Don't you remember when Spatch couldn't find a roommate for weeks and weeks and weeks? Dave couldn't, either. :)
Oh, I thought maybe that was a stealthy replacement technique. "Sure, Roomie, go ahead and do your reality TV stint and I promise I won't lease out your room for extra cash or anything!"
Heh. I went to college with one of the guys from the first season, and my boyfriend's old roommate was featured in the casting episode for the second season (didn't make the cut, though). Clearly we live in a geeky area.

Wow! Congrats to him and Jasmine!

Everyone loves a winner! That's very very cool. Were you unable to spill the beans earlier? Waiting for the promised details...
He actually wasn't able to spill the beans, being contracturally obligated and all, so I didn't know the final outcome. However, he came back from the finale tapings this weekend (they taped multiple endings to keep the studio audience in the dark, too) and was Really Really Really Excited. I can't imagine how it's been to keep it a secret for an entire weekend.
Just a weekend? I've read that Jeopardy contestants have to sit on the results for months.
He'll have to tell the full story of what he knew and when, but he knew he was a finalist way back in the summer when the show wrapped. That the ultimate decision to let the viewers vote on the winner was a surprise to all of them. So he's known he was going to either win or come in second for quite some time, but hasn't been able to talk about any episodes until they actually air.
whoa, so I like, once had pho in Boston with a guy who's roomates with a guy who won Beauty and the Geek. That's pretty cool.
that is all sorts of cool. i always tell people derspatchel is my hero, but this brings your rockness to a higher level. I am very happy your roomie won, as he is also super cool.

I saw him this morning and it looks like he has definitely upgraded his wardrobe. Chatting on the cell while navigating the ice was quite impressive. He looked quite confident, I must say.

More than one celeb in your house
Am I wrong, or don't you have *two* celebrity roommates, Spatch? Dave told me when he moved in that he now lives with Abbie, of Abbie the Cat Has a Posse
Been loving that blog for years before Dave moved in with you all, never knew that Abbie was right around the corner in Davis. And as D has promised that I can meet Abbie soon, perhaps I'll be meeting you as well!
