01:54 pm - Spatch's twenty-four word review of "Human Nature"
If just ten seconds had been snipped from "Human Nature" it'd be in the running for the Best Freakin' Episode of the "New" Doctor Who So Far.

And I bet you can guess which ten seconds I'm referring to. can't guarantee spoiler-free comments, btw.

I think you could make it perfect by snipping the two seconds it took Martha to say, "And it wasn't me."

They really really need to get over the whole crush-on-the-Doctor thing. I mean, he's old enough to be her great (x40) grandfather.

Speaking of which - someone on TVWOP pointed out, based on the previews for next week, if he has a child in 1913 that would be just about the right time to make Susan his granddaugter in 1963.

The entire emo-fest takes about 10 seconds, I think. And if it were gone, BOOM! Human Nature would be one of the most fucking awesomest episodes ever...

AND if we suddenly retcon Susan into the whole thing...

whoa.

Agreed. Also, I could have done without the many scarecrows. It's just not scary. One is frightening, many are just goons. And not the img-timeline sort.

"Who is that?"
"That was Rose."
"That's a very pretty drawing."
"She was my girlfriend. But now she lives in an alternate universe."
"Canada?"
"No, a real alternate universe. That's why I'll never see her again."

the actual dialog?

'scusee' he's not allowed to just throw around gfness now! The climactic episode of hemhawflubbing the Three Li'l don' count. I hate it when eps flip off a whole season+'s tension in glib backreferences like that.

This was a fangirl rant wasn' it... *hangs head* Also, it's true I've missed an ep or two.

Oh, Ten never uses anything approaching the words "girl" or "friend", thankfully. But if RTD keeps insisting on throwing stupid-ass love triangles into the show, it might as well be.

Next season, Ten will be just like Captain Jack "Anything With A Pulse" Harkness.

HRAY

How this creative team can simultaneously breathe new life into an established science-fiction classic and dump large loads of hooey onto it is beyond me.

Please, "anyone who's gorgeous enough" is the actual designation for Jack's sexuality. :-)

I wish they's shut the hell up about Rose and get Martha over her crush and into platonic friend-ness. If this can happen in Real LifeTM, why not in Doctor Who Land?

I thought you meant that the ten seconds would be the best episode, and got very confused about what that might be.

They seem to do really well with episodes set in the past. I meant to come and post about how enjoyable it was on Saturday but I forgot.
