04:58 pm - [villains] oh it's another bad guy
The Spammer hit 15 last night which meant he gets a spiffy new title ("The Dastardly Spammer") and, with two Spambots and a Protector Bot, is soloing missions of "Vicious" difficulty. This means he gets to go up against foes two or more levels higher than him in every mission, and is particularly proud that, in his teens, he and his army can solo red bosses and the occasional purple (purple usually means 'deadly' and red means 'just slightly less deadly.')

Today though I got home from my doctor's appointment and rather than pass out, decided to roll one more villain on Protector so that The Spammer has a new pal in crime.

Fueled by pedantry, powered by technology, the Wikipedian is a man who just cannot leave well enough alone. Whether it's reverting bank balances to zero or pointlessly arguing semantics with do-gooders, one thing's clear: anyone who crosses his path will be Voted For Deletion!

Golly, I just need the time to play all these alts...

I know what you mean. I actually haven't even played in over a week. (Of course, for me, it's a case of not being in the mood for it.)

So, then. Making characters: still more fun than playing them?

Actually, the level grind for villains is far less horrid as it is for heroes, there aren't any Hazard Zones to fuck around with, and the newspaper-based "caper" missions, leading up to a Mayhem mission every 3 or 5 capers you pull, is a blast.

Playing a villain is definitely more fun right now than playing a hero. It's just that a fellow gets tired of ordering robots around or playing smashy with his fists every now and then.

Newspaper mission equivalents are coming for heroes soon. And Faultline is reverting to a city zone.

All in issue 8, which is expected out before the end of the year - along with WINGS, which has my husband very excited.

I actually find the grind for villians worse than that for heroes. You can always get heroes up to about 10 very fast by finding a like-minded sewer team with a decent healer.

I am really looking forward to the flying accoutrements in I8. Wings will be great, and jetpacks for tech-based flying characters will be great, since you no longer have to pretend they're using, uh, rocket boots or something.

Faultline going to a city zone will be interesting.

What impresses me most about I8 was that most of these changes were planned as a full paid expansion, but then they decided to just release it free.
