|09:41 pm - gushie, get me outta here|
Whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA!!
This I am very happy for. Quantum Leap was one of my favorite TV series in high school and while the series' end was a bit of a deus ex bartender kind of downer, I always knew there'd be a movie, made-for-TV-or-no, to come out of it eventually. I just had to be real good, stay in drugs, don't do milk, and drink my school. And even if it sucks rocks, I'll be glad to see it.
EDIT: Aw, looks like it's nothin but baseless rumor and has been for two years. But wouldn't it have been nice?!
Oh look, and already the social outpatients on the IMDB boards are trying to argue over which season has the better theme song. You know, if ever there was a strong argument for mandatory sterilization, the IMDB message boards would be it.
I hadn't realized that different seasons had different theme music, although I did notice a difference between the voice-over bit in season 1 vs. season 3.
If I were given to fangirl excess I would be squealing excessively. As it is, I'm wondering who I can press into service taping this thing for me when it airs.

Uncle Jack went searching, and found the kids at last (AAAHHH!)
I smell attempted sequel pilot! Starring some hot chick in place of the absent Scott Bakula who was only in the pilot!
I went to high school with a girl who would write episodes of Quantum Leap and mail them off to the producer. She did one every 3 weeks or so. I never read one, but whether they were any good or not, surely that is a sign of obsession.

Aw, yeah. Quantum Leap has been showing here, from the first episode right up until the last episode (which is showing today, in fact). As far as I've heard, this sequel's had a lot of scheduling issues and so on, but everyone's pretty determined to get it made.
...and the season 5 theme tune *really* sucks. It is painful to my ears.

sadly, don't hold your breath :( that IMDB entry is about two years old; no one has heard a thing about it since SF made noises several years ago; and the principals say they know nothin'. Bakula was doing a play in DC last month, and interviewers asked him about it -- he says he'd love to do something again with QL but has heard absolutely nothing, and that Dean Stockwell hasn't either, that he knows of.
it's one of my favourite shows ever too, and this would rock. if it ever actually showed any signs of going anywhere.

er, 'SF' there would be Sci Fi NEtwork. Anyway, here's revelant comments from a WashPost chat in late March
:New Hyde Park, N.Y.:
Scott, I've read several stories about either a new Quantum Leap series or a made-for-TV movie. I've also read that both you and Dean have been willing to reprise your roles. With the two of you and the fans wanting this, what is holding this up. We are ready for Sam to come home! Is there something we can do to help out?Scott Bakula:
Well, thank you for continuing to support the return of the show. It is true that Dean and I are willing to reprise our roles. In terms of a new TV series or TV movie, I know of no plans and have not been contacted about any.
The rights for the show have always been a complication to further productions.
Aw, that's a bit of a deflater there. I knew it was too good to be true. Wait, that's a lie. I was more than willing to be ready to believe.
Where's Donald Belisario in all of this, anyway?

Hunh. I could have sworn various QL fansites have mentioned more recent news than that, but I guess upon checking that, nope, it was 2004 since anything new was actually officially announced. Sigh.
