|11:51 pm - these are in my "abstract" directory. for serious.|
DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK
I'VE BEEN HERE FOR YEARS
Exhibit 1: In Which Tony Randall And Jack Klugman Massacre "You're So Vain" In Character
Exhibit 2: In Which Rolf Harris, Wobble Board And All, Buys A Stairway To Heaven (All together now!)
Exhibit 3: In Which Der Bingle Takes A Sad Song And Makes It Better
Exhibit 4: In Which Trent Reznor And George Clinton Had A Baby And They Named It Closer
Exhibit 5: Guess Who Is Covering The Beatles Here And Win A Shine Box, Which You Can Then Go Back To (aw, crap, did I give too much away?)
Addendum: If ever a song desperately cried out to be in a John Waters movie, this would be it.
I highly suspect there was no Trent Reznor in that song!
I think he got near the baby just enough to smack it and make it cry.
"Closer" via G. Clinton = BEST FARM PORN SOUNDTRACK. EVER. Seriously. Especially if you know the words. Because, well. Y'know.
Bugger, and here I am at work unable to listen to any of it.
So far (as I'm still eating breakfast right now) this little collection has made my day.
I bet you do a mean Rolf Harris.

Howdy, Spatch man. I had something I was gonna post for you, but wasn't sure if you were reading while you were away. Gotta see if I can remember what that was.
My mother has requested that I render you unconscious.
Welcome back. I'll have to listen to these tonight.
I'm pretty sure that's the Man In Black singing his best phonetic German. Rock & roll caught on pretty big in West Germany, and it wasn't uncommon for English-singing artists to record German-language versions of their songs for the public consumption. The Beatles spent quite a bit of the early 1960s playing clubs in Hamburg's red-light district, even going back and forth during their up-and-coming Cavern Club days and cutting a few German singles. You can find the German-language "Sie liebt dich" and "Komm gib mir deine Hand" around on some compilations or even *gasp* online if you look hard enough.
Heck, even Petula Clark
got in on the act.
