|03:19 pm - No, it's Progress|
Las Vegas' venerable Stardust hotel and casino will close at the end of 2006. After implosion and removal, the space will be occupied by the blandest-looking upscale thing ever. While the Wynn went upscale in the place of the ol' Desert Inn, the Wynn has character. Tacky, HR Pufnstuf-meets-frosting character on the inside, sure, but at least it's not corporate sterile.
Oh well. And at least it's not all condos.

Oh no! The Stardust was where I stayed my very first trip to Vegas! :(
The Wynn at least has the whole English Garden Bizzaro motif going on. That, and the Valley of Bling.
While the tile flowers on the floors look like they came directly out of the Living Island.
Maybe it's a listening station...
Sweet, I'm getting to stay there in its last year!

I looked at the new place.
