|09:21 pm - live, from belchertown|
sm'am: I just found a message of someone belching on my phone. Guess what town they were in!
Our Hero: BURPSVILLE USA
Our Hero: I know PRECISELY of which town you speak
Our Hero: and I wonder WHO THAT WAS
sm'am: it's the same person who quacks at me while driving through duxbury
Our Hero: ... lord help us if she ever drives thru cummington
Visit beautiful Toad Suck, Ark.
Half the towns in MA were named by 14 year old boys.

Here in Washington we have "Tillicum".
How long do I want to drive? Tillicum.
The Old Folks' Home nearest to my parents is called "Willecum's Retreat".
On her bad days me mum begs that if I put her into a home, it shouldn't be there.
"Don't make me go to Williecum!" she wails, "I don't want to be a willicum girl!".
Everyone else in the supermarket makes faces and turns away...
/totally and utterly irrelevant.
She sounds like my mother.
"Do you know how many Massachusetts towns are named after governors?"
"Oh, sure! There's Winthrop, Peabody, Marblehead and Athol..."

Best road trip ever
...was actually pretty crappy because I was trapped in a Blazer enroute to Arkansas with my crazy-driving mother, but we drove through Licking, MO. I mean, that's pretty funny in and of itself, but what was better was the Adopt-A-Highway sign sponsored by Licking United Methodist Men. Pity I didn't have a camera, and I wouldn't have a clue how to get back there.
Licking United Methodist Men - I like it.
I've always wanted to nick a sign from the Barking Baptist Tabernacle, m'self.

Oh, there's also the intersection of Highway 69 South and Oralabor Road in Ankeny, IA.
Did somebody say town slogans
Have you ever been referenced in your own LJ before?
Somewhere in the wilds of Louisiana, you can see a Cooter Point. Which is its own specialized category of pr0n, I understand.
I wish I could remember some of the town names we got when driving back to Canada from New York City... there were some doozies in the mountains there.
Canada's best offering in this field is Dildo, Newfoundland
