RUMBA RUMBA SNORT RIP

FIVE YEARS AHEAD OF THE TREND, SUCK IT EBERT

I'm beginning to have my worries about Roger "Three Stars" Ebert. He's channelling Garfield the cat for his latest review (of the Garfield sequel.) It's cute, but ... well, weird. Really weird. As in "wait, what" weird. And he includes some odd, odd, odd bits -- the conceit here being that Garfield's role in the movie involved acting and impersonating celebrity voices as well:
I do the voice of Tim Curry, an actor I have admired ever since Jon took me to a drive-in to see "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" while he smoked human catnip.

That's all I'm gonna say about that because any other reply will necessitate the posting of a picture of a very incredulous owl.

rocky horror at a drive-in? doesn't that defeat the purpose?
Tom Lehrer is Smug

Oh, right

Compare and contrast, chilluns, these news stories that broke on the same day in the same state:

COEUR D'ALENE — The owners of a roller skating rink have fired an 18-year-old woman they called one of their "Top 10" employees because she moved in with her boyfriend, violating a company ethics policy that prohibits "live-in relationships of an intimate nature."

...

Skate Plaza's moral and ethics policy also bans such behaviors as "public displays of promiscuous activities, homosexuality, intoxication, use of profanity, lewd behavior, use of illegal drugs, child abuse, spouse abuse, unlawful relationships, cross-dressing, stalking and nudity."
EXHIBIT B

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A man transporting his wife's severed head in a pickup truck collided with an oncoming car, killing a woman and her 4-year-old daughter, police said. The impact sent the head flying onto the road.

...

[The suspect] ... who was not injured, told officers he was involved in his wife's death, investigators said.
Gee, it's too bad for that spouse abuse clause, or that morally-correct legally-wedded-in-the-eyes-of-God gentleman could've had a job at Skate Plaza.

no offense meant to mr. jr, earl
