Folks, if you plan on writing a high-larious "fake news" prank, please make sure that you actually have a good grasp of style. If you want people to believe your story is real, you have to learn how to write just like the big kids write. Otherwise, you're only embarrassing yourself.

Good lord.

I did about 15 minutes worth of research...

...and I can conclusively tell you this is a hoax. Some guy named "Eric" who also goes under the pseudonym "Enrique" is running it. He's currently using the name "Stephen Maddox" which has registered the site andykaufmanlives.com. Stephen Maddox is a character from the 1963 movie "The Running Man" who is a insurance salesman who is running after faking his death and defrauding his company.

I've read enough poorly written press releases that I probably wouldn't have discounted it based on just that alone, but the person writing the blog sounds like a 19 year old kid.

I never bought the idea that Kaufman faked his death. It was amusing to think about it, but that's it. I was hoping that this was going to be a fake, but a fake run by Bob Zmuda because I read a few days ago that Zmuda had booked the house of blues in LA for a Kaufman comeback show. But if Zmuda were running that blog, it'd sound like Kaufman.

Of course, the press release came from PRweb, which is a free distribution service. Any schmoe can go and submit a press release about anything.

I'm seriously considering writing one up and submitting it the next time Abbie throws up, just to make a point.
